The free interval timer for running and treadmill
PushPace talks you through every interval, so you never have to look at your phone. Set the speed and incline for each part of your treadmill workout, or run outside with the screen locked. Every feature is free, with no subscription.

Who it's for
PushPace is made for people who train in intervals and want the timer to stay out of the way.
Treadmill runners
Each interval has its own target speed and incline. PushPace reads them out, so you know what to dial in before the interval starts.
Outdoor intervals
Phone in your pocket, screen off. The spoken cues keep coming in the background, over your music.
HIIT, Tabata and EMOM
Start a classic format in one tap, or build a kettlebell or dumbbell circuit where every exercise is named and read aloud.
What it does
Everything below is included for free. Nothing is locked behind a paywall.
Unlimited custom workouts
Add as many work and rest intervals as you want, plus rounds, a warm-up and a cool-down. You see the total time before you start.
Voice cues, even with the screen locked
Each change is spoken out loud: what comes next, and the target speed and incline. Cues keep playing in the background and on the lock screen.
Works with your music
PushPace lowers Spotify, Apple Music or your podcast while it speaks, then hands the sound straight back. It never stops your music.
Speed and incline per interval
Set targets for every interval, shown in large type. Choose km/h, mph, min/km or min/mi and switch any time.
Distance, history and shoe mileage
Distance is worked out from your speeds, or typed in from the treadmill afterwards. Finished workouts are saved, and each pair of running shoes keeps its own mileage.
Readable from across the room
The whole screen changes colour with the phase, with a big countdown, a progress bar and what comes next. Plus a quick timer for 10, 20, 30 or 45 minutes.
Ready-made workouts
Pick a template, adjust it if you want, and press start. A treadmill 4x4 with speed and incline already set is waiting the first time you open the app.
| Workout | Structure | Total |
|---|---|---|
| 4x4 intervals | 10 min warm-up, then 4 rounds of 4 min run and 3 min rest, then 5 min cool-down | 43 min |
| Treadmill 4x4 | Like 4x4, with run at 12 km/h and 4% incline and walk at 5 km/h | 43 min |
| HIIT 30/30 | 5 min warm-up, then 10 rounds of 30 s work and 30 s rest, then 5 min cool-down | 20 min |
| Tabata | 8 rounds of 20 s work and 10 s rest | 4 min |
| EMOM 10 | A new round every minute on the minute, 10 times | 10 min |
Strength circuits and EMOM
Give every interval the name of the exercise, reps included. PushPace shows it in large type and says it out loud when the minute starts, so you never have to remember what comes next. Finish early and the rest of the minute is your break.
Example: Kettlebell EMOM
2 min warm-up, 4 rounds, 2 min cool-down. 32 minutes in total.- 12 kettlebell swings
- 8 push-ups
- 10 goblet squats
- 10 kettlebell rows
- 16 reverse lunges
- 30 sec plank
- 1 min rest before the next round
Free, and what that means
Many interval timers lock custom workouts, voice cues or extra intervals behind a subscription. PushPace doesn't.
No trial, no subscription, no limit on workouts or intervals.
A small banner, and one ad after you finish. Never during a workout, and never a sound from an ad.
One optional one-time purchase removes all ads for good. Not a subscription.
Questions
Is PushPace really free?
Yes. Every feature is free, with no subscription and no locked features. The app shows a small banner and one ad after a finished workout, never during one. An optional one-time purchase removes all ads.
Do the voice cues keep playing when my screen is locked?
Yes. PushPace keeps speaking each interval change while the app is in the background and while the phone is locked, so you can run outdoors with the phone in a pocket or on an armband.
Can I listen to Spotify, music or podcasts at the same time?
Yes. PushPace briefly lowers your music while it speaks and then hands it straight back. It does not stop your music.
Can I set treadmill speed and incline for each interval?
Yes. Each interval can have a target speed and incline, shown in large type and read aloud. Speed can be shown in km/h, mph, min/km or min/mi.
Can I name each exercise, for example in an EMOM workout?
Yes. Every interval has a name that is shown in large type and read aloud when it starts. For an EMOM with kettlebells or dumbbells, add one 1-minute interval per exercise and name it with the reps, such as “12 kettlebell swings” or “10 goblet squats”, then set the number of rounds. Finish early and the rest of the minute is your break.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no login and no sign-up. Your workouts, history and shoes are stored on your phone. See the privacy policy for details.
Is PushPace available for Android or Apple Watch?
